Panda Bear @MoMA P.S. 1, Jan. 11th

Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear of the band Animal Collective, performed a solo set Sunday afternoon for Boiler Room at MoMA P.S. 1 inside its geodesic VW Dome. Video artist Danny Perez supplied the stimulating visuals projected upon the dome's interior walls, which made for a trippy experience combined with Panda Bear's experimental tunes.

(More words and pics after the jump.)

I was especially excited to check out this show having caught the collaboration between Perez and Animal Collective almost 5 years ago at the Guggenheim Museum. It was my first visit to MoMA P.S. 1 ever, and I've been really grooving to Panda Bear's newest album, Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper. He played a set chiefly of new tracks along with some nuggets -- pretty much the same from his sets last year at Warsaw and Irving Plaza. This also marks my first post to this blog in almost 2 years (!), and the first time I've used my shiny DSLR for a concert (thanks, Santa!).  We'll see how it goes.

Boiler Room, which presented the live set on its website, will be looping it for the next few days, so be sure to catch it here on YouTube asap!
