4Knots Music Festival @Hudson River Park, July 11th

(Mikal Cronin)

After a solid morning of work, I made my way to Pier 84 in Manhattan on the Hudson River for the 4Knots Music Festival sponsored by Village Voice to catch a great lineup of indie rock bands on a beautiful summer day.

The festival was a great deal for concertgoers -- only $25 for a GA ticket to see 10 bands, which were a good mix of newcomers, established indie acts, and a few bands worth more than the price of admission alone.  For a slight premium more at $50 (and definitely worthwhile), VIPs had access to a boat docked alongside the pier, nicer bathrooms, bars, air conditioning, and a few included drink tickets and snacks.  My friends who opted for the spendier option seemed to enjoy the digs. ("I'm on a boat!")

New gig...for me!

I have some exciting news! Starting this Thursday, May 28th, I will be DJing a weekly 2-hour slot for Little Water Radio, a relatively new, internet-based radio station located in the Fulton Stall Market down at South Street Seaport in lower Manhattan.  I'll be playing a mix of mostly indie music songs, and probably talking about sandwiches.

Check out the rest of the roster, which looks to be a nicely eclectic assortment of programming you won't find anywhere else on the radio or internet!

If you are free Thursday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm ET, tune in here for my show, Club Sandwich

Panda Bear @MoMA P.S. 1, Jan. 11th

Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear of the band Animal Collective, performed a solo set Sunday afternoon for Boiler Room at MoMA P.S. 1 inside its geodesic VW Dome. Video artist Danny Perez supplied the stimulating visuals projected upon the dome's interior walls, which made for a trippy experience combined with Panda Bear's experimental tunes.
