The Roulette Sisters @Retrofret, Jan. 15th
Ahh, friendship has its privileges. Bestest Boy and I were invited by our friends, The Roulette Sisters, to attend the release party for their newest CD, Introducing..., even though they hardly need any introducin'. On a chilly January night we gathered in the amazing Retrofret Vintage Guitars where this quartet of lovely ladies warmed us with their fresh sounding take on familiar saucy tunes, with a few originals stuck in as well.

This new album was the result of the ladies reuniting last year after a period of downtime for them. Bestest Boy and I caught them almost a year ago at Barbès, where they played together as a band for the first time after 2-1/2 years, and on this night, it sounded like they have moved forward beautifully in the past eleven months.
As they played amongst dozens of unique guitars, they each brought different elements of their personalities to the songs. Seeing The Roulette Sisters play live is not to merely sit at a concert and listen; they have a wonderful way of drawing you in and making you feel like you're at a family gathering. What a privilege it was to witness this collaboration.
